Full grain leather is the strongest, most characterful part of the hide. With a little care it gets better with age instead of wearing out. Here is how we look after our own pieces.
Keep it clean
Wipe away dust and surface dirt with a soft, dry cloth. For light marks, use a barely damp cloth and let the leather air dry naturally — never next to a radiator or in direct sun.
Condition a few times a year
Leather is a natural material and slowly loses its oils. Every few months, rub a small amount of quality leather balm into the surface with a soft cloth, let it absorb, then buff gently. Always test on a hidden spot first.
Let the patina happen
Scratches, darkening and soft creases are not flaws. Over time they blend into a patina that tells the story of where your piece has been. Many light scuffs disappear with a little warmth from your hand.
Store it well
- Keep pieces in a breathable cotton bag, not plastic.
- Stuff bags lightly with paper so they hold their shape.
- Avoid long periods in damp places.
Treat it simply and use it often — leather is made to be lived with.
